However, even after the revolution, this zeal remained always vigorous and undiminished, and apart from the so-called small schools, for many years, both before and after the arrival of Otto, four Greek teachers, Parthenios Hieronymus, Panagiotakis Smyrnakis, the Hieromonk Benedictos from Symi, Procopius Dendrinos and some others from the peripatetics, among whom was Nicholas Chrysogelos from Syphnos, taught Greek lessons to many young people, while at the same time the Englishman Blak and later the Greek D. Falereus taught the French language. Only then did these private Schools of Greek subjects and the common so-called letters in Spetses cease, when, after the institution and restoration of the Municipal authorities, the Municipality of Spetses under the Mayorship of Nicholas I. Mexis, Mayor of Spetses, established and maintained a municipal Greek School under the Head of School Parthenios Ieronymos, assisted by two assistant teachers.
