Around July 1833, one from Mount Athos, named Procopius Dendrinos, agitated against autocephaly and other objectives of the regents under their very noses in Nauplion.

Benedict and Procopius Dendrinos, however, went to the island of Syme (which was temporarily liberated from Ottoman rule, though it was later restored to the Ottoman empire) and were usefully employed while in temporary 'exile' in teaching at local schools.

Amphilocius of Pelusium
“During my residence in Odessa in the house of the sister of the late General Alexander Sturtza, the Countess K. Etling, she returned from Constantinople about the 1841 or 1842, whither she had gone some time before, bringing with her the person of whom we speak, Constantine Simonides, whom she had taken under her care from Constantinople at the request of the Reverend Archimandrite Procopius Dendrinos, and afterwards, with the consent of her said late brother, Alexander Sturtza, introduced him to the Greek school in that place, as having then a slight knowledge of the rudiments of our ancient Greek language, and there he took lessons for some few months.

“After a short residence at Syme, Simonides went to visit Anthimos, the renowned Patriarch of Constantinople, and brought him recommendations from several of the principal persons of Athos, and especially one from Procopius,...

Biographical Memoir 1859

Such is the account given by Simonides himself, but it is corohorated in every particular by the testimony of others, and these corroborative circumstances are of the most unimpeachable character, and can be readily referred to. After a short residence at Syme, Simonides went to visit Anthimos, the renowned Patriarch of Constantinople, and brought him recommendations from several of the principal persons of Athos, and especially one from Procopius, a sacred officer of the Church of the Greeks.

Archimandrite Prokopios Dendrinos from Ithaca (died on 14. 8.1848 in Agios Oros).
Benedict becomes abbot of the Monastery of Ag. Panteleimonos. Benedict resides in the Monastery of Zoodochos Pigi of Poros, from 1822 until the end of 1825 at least. Benediktos and Procopius were later appointed by Kapodistrias, as teachers at the Great School of Spetses (1828 – July 1830) and then (October 1830), at the Priestly School of Poros.

Zusammen mit Benedikt lehrt auf derselben Schule auch Prokopios Dendrinos aus Ithaka (gest. 14. August 1848), der ebenfalls später auf den Athos und in das Kloster des Hl. Panteleimon zieht (Evangelidis, 1936, Bd. 2, 113, Anm. 2).

Prokopios Dendrinos from Ithaca (d. August 14, 1848) also taught at the same school together with Benedict, who also later moved to Mount Athos and to the monastery of St. Panteleimon (Evangelidis, 1936, vol. 2, 113, note 2).
