Some ink is dark black, but not much. What type of ink that is I don't know.
I'm interested in the ink that is not dye-based, or which includes its own pigment in the ink (e.g. India ink). The ink that the text and the corrections (mostly) and the colophons were in. Those inks form their pigments inside the substrate (not deposited on top like India ink), and those pigment precipitates do fade but do so very, very slowly. This is very helpful in assessing age
