This is actually the logic of those who accept the AV text and yet want to make it into a Christ is God verse.
Most of the commentators avoid stating their logic directly, but David Ritchie did so, in a slightly backwards manner.
David Ritchie (1763-1844)

Lectures, explanatory and practical, on the doctrinal part of the Epistle of Paul ... to the Romans (1831)

p. 169-174
There the logic claim is clear, even if worded in a bit of a backwards manner.
(Christ is..) God blessed for ever == Christ is God
However, logically that does not follow.
The universe may be blessed for ever, by God, but the universe is not God.
The body of Christ, the church of the living God, may be blessed for ever, but the body of Christ is not God.
The Angelic host may be God blessed for ever, but the Angelic host is not God.

This is correct on p. 169

Originally I placed David Ritchie here:
Ironically, on p. 170 he uses phrasing very similar to that used by John William Burgon
Burgon - Revision Revised p. 211
