Many Fake bible versions like the ESV and NASB have really messed up the way they translate Revelation 13:8. They totally rearranged the wording.

The Greek text reads just like the KJB has it.
ων ου γεγραπται τα ονοματα εν τη βιβλω της ζωης του αρνιου εσφαγμενου απο καταβολης κοσμου = whose names were not written in the Book of life of the lamb slain from the foundation of the world.

But the ESV, Holman Standard, NET and NASB say - “and all who dwell on earth will worship it, everyone whose name has not been written before the foundation of the world in the book of life of the Lamb who was slain.”

Agreeing with the KJB are the NIV, ISV (International Standard Version 2014, English Revised Version 1881, Tyndale 1524, Coverdale 1535, the Great Bible 1540, Matthew's Bible 1549, the Bishops' bible 1568, Geneva Bible 1587, Beza's New Testament 1599, Sawyer N.T. 1858, MEV 2014, Wycliffe 1395, Whiston's N.T. 1745, Worsley N.T. 1770, Young's 1898, NKJV 1982, Green's Literal 1993, Rotherham's Emphasized Bible 1902, Weymouth N.T. 1902, J.B. Phillips N.T. 1972, Complete Jewish Bible 1998, The Koster Scriptures 1998, the Tomson N.T. 2002, Complete Apostle's Bible 2005, Resurrection Life N.T. 2005, the Mebust Bible 2007, the Jubilee Bible 2010, Disciples’ Literal N.T. 2011, Orthodox Jewish Bible 2011, Mounce Reverse Interlinear N.T. 2011, Names of God Bible 2011, New International Reader’s Version 2014, New Living Translation 2015, Wilbur Pickering N.T. and Lamsa's 1933 translation of the Syriac Peshitta.

The Catholic Connection

The Douay-Rheims 1582 and the Douay Version 1950 both read like the KJB - the lamb slain from the foundation of the world. But the more recent Catholic versions like the St. Joseph New American Bible 1970 and the New Jerusalem bible 1985 read like the NASB, ESV.

Jamison, Fausset and Brown Commentary - Lamb slain from the foundation of the world. The Greek order favours this. He was slain in the Father's eternal counsels: cf. 1 Peter 1:19-20.

John Gill - "he may be said to be "slain from the foundation of the world"; in the decree and purpose of God, by which he was set forth, or foreappointed to be the propitiation for sin, and was foreordained, before the foundation of the world, to redeem his people by his blood"
Albert Barnes Notes on the Bible - “The meaning here is, not that he was actually put to death “from the foundation of the world,” but that the intention to give him for a sacrifice was formed then, and that it was so certain that it might be spoken of as actually then occurring. See Romans 4:17. The purpose was so certain, it was so constantly represented by bloody sacrifices from the earliest ages, all typifying the future Saviour, that it might be said that he was “slain from the foundation of the world.”
The King James Bible is right as always.

Especially start on p. 42-43

(5.) But the next instance will shock every Evangeli-
cal believer. Will it be believed that the Committee
have ventured to tamper with the great beauty and
force of Rev. xiii. 8, so as to take away the devotional
and doctrinal use of it, forever, and to leave us no such
text as “ tub Lamb slain from the foundation of
tiie World?” They not only insert a comma after
elain, to divide it from what follows, but dogmatically
pronounce that what follows does not belong to “ the
Lamb slain,” but only to the names of his followers!
They justify themselves by a reference which proves
nothing against the received text, in this case, for every
Bible student knows how many and rich arc the varie-
ties even in the coincidences of Scripture. They pre-
sume to say, moreover, that “ the translators wrongly
insert a comma after Lamb.” If this is not “ going be-
hind the translators,” and shoving them into the ditch,
besides, I know not how to characterize it The Vul-
gate sustains the old pointing—quorum non mint scripta
nomina in libro vitcc Agni, qui occmis est ah origine
mundi. Few texts are dearer to the devout, and it is
a proof text with theologians. Bishop Pearson cites it
twice in his work on the Creed. “ As he was the Lamb
slain from the foundation of the icorhl”, says he, “so all
atonements which were ever made, were only effectual
by His Blood.” Besides, the same thing is said by St
Peter, (I Pet i. 20,) who speaks of “ the precious blood of
Christ, as of a Lamb without blemish and without
spot, who verily was foreordained before the foundation
of the world.” IIow indelicate the assumption, which
forbids us to understand St. John, as repeating the
same truth, when he uses almost the same words! The
text is one which reflects a glorious light from the last
pages of Scripture up to the first, and defines Jescs
CnRiST as the alpha and omega of the Bible. The altar
of Abel, and the sacrifice of Abraham, in Genesis, are
thus identified with the Lamb of the Apocalypse; and
the text, as received, adds significance to the passage in
which we read of the “ Song of Moses and the Lamb.”
I greatly misconceive the amount of devout affection to
this time-honoured Scripture, which exists among Amer-
ican Christians, and among the members of the Society
itself, if this perversion of the Word of God, will be
patiently submitted to.
