There is a subtle difference between the overall color of the Old Testament and the overall color of the New Testament. I noted that as I prepared to speak in Michigan this year. I was able to pick where Matthew starts, it is so clear.
I think the Old Testament was stained first, then with the lessons learned, the New Testament was much more carefully stained, being seen as that much more important.

I have a 22 inch screen here at work, and that is when I noticed the difference - the shift in color, and was able to zoom in on Matthew 1
No ordinary aging would do that. It is from a slightly different batch of staining agent, I would venture.
