John Ben-Daniel
Hello Mr. Steven Avery, Thanks for your interest.
I must confess I have never heard of the theory that Nazareth was located on Har Nitai. Now you tell me that, I doubt it very much because:
1. We know where ancient Nazareth was located. It was about 35 kms west of Arbel, a good day's walk.
2. I have read the results of a recent archaeological survey of the Har Nitai plateau, and there are no ruins there except for a Second-Temple field-stone wall protecting the northern section. Very few coins or ceramics have been found there, indicating minimal inhabitation over the centuries.
Hope this helps,
John BD

Hi John BD,

Thanks!

My friend Kevin Kluetz knows a lot about what was, and was not, done on that 2015 archaeological survey. I will pass on your thoughts.

Origen did not give any real hints on the location of Nazareth, and there is always the lack of any mention of Sepphoris that is a puzzle, and there are various evidences that Har Nitai would fit the Biblical description excellently, such as the execution cliff and "down to Capernaum" being visually, literally true.

There is such a gap of time till Eusebius, Epiphanius and Jerome, do you know of any early strong indications of the location of Nazareth?

Thanks!

Steven
