Jesus raised in Capernaum theory correlates with true Nazareth at Har Nitai

- Hi Medzie

There are many legitimate concerns about the establishment Nazareth archaeology and reasoning.

One cause for this is that rolling hills Nazareth in Lower Galilee, chosen as Nazareth centuries later, is highly unlikely to be the New Testament spot. When I tried to roll off the Mount of Precipitation I laughed and smiled. (A new road is messing up the spot.)

Luke 4:29 (AV)
And rose up,
and thrust him out of the city,
and led him unto the brow of the hill whereon their city was built,
that they might cast him down headlong.

Har Nitai (from which you have a beautiful view and look "down to Capernaum") would have an execution cliff with a 100+ meter sheer drop, matching the Lukan narrative.

Luke 4:31 (AV)
And came down to Capernaum, a city of Galilee,
and taught them on the sabbath days.

And John 2:12

Arbel is on the other side, with a similar drop, and a history as an execution spot, so it is also in consideration.

Those who have studied the spots, including Kevin Kluetz, who used his Army Ranger skills from the 1991 Gulf War to study the Galilee in 1995, Bible in hand, tend to give Har Nitai the preference.

RE: "There are many legitimate concerns about the establishment Nazareth archaeology and reasoning."
Thank YOU, Steven.
Our language is fairly limited and the "figurative" and "poetic" afford us the means to share in the meaning beyond words. That is a meaning we help to build whether anyone is watching or not.
Thanks again for the geography lesson and pointers that may help us better 'understand' who and what we are rather than simply going along with someone else's story.

Good Stuff, Steven. As you know I have argued that Jesus was brought up in Capernaum, pretty much on the basis you cite.
Thank you for this added detail which I hope to incorporate.
