One scholar offered a sort of despairing note about coincidence, probability and evidence. (We were discussing the Hermas "coincidence".

In general: coincidence is a strange phenomenon, too strange indeed to build much on it, certainly not enough to counter a majority opinion, for the simple reason that even if what is said is true it has the ring of "coincidence" around it.
