Lycourgas has a number of mentions of Simonides and Constantinople, including the patriarch Constantius.

And here is a note from Nikolos Farmakidis on this topic:

Simonides' relationship with Constantios is documented by his acquaintance with his father Simon Hatzikostas who went to Constantinople for issues of Symi and there are minutes of the discussions. But we see that Constantios also had close relations with Sturtzas where Simonides stayed with him for some years. After all, Simonides would not have been able to have relations with Sturtzas and his sister if Constantios had not introduced him. His uncle Michael Fotiadis was also the teacher of Zakharov's Consul of Russia in Constantinople. The whole family of Simonides eventually had relations with a circle of people in Constantinople in which Constantius was included. After all, who was paying Simonides' expenses for all the trips he took? Who introduced him to the English who took him to England? Who introduced him to the Russians and did they deal with him for so many years? Another person who introduced him to this circle was Dendrinos, a close friend of Benedict's uncle,
