From the marginal scholia Tischendorf cites the following notices of the Jewish Gospel, or that according to the Hebrews, which certainly have their value as helping to inform us respecting its nature:
Matth. iv. 5, to ιουδαικον ov‘ exe εἰς THY αγίαν πολιν αλλ ev LANL.
XVi. 17, Bapiwva το ιουδαικον υἱε twavvov.
XvVill. 22, τὸ ιουδαικον εἕης exer μετα To ἑβδομηκον- Takis ἑπτα' καὶ yap εν τοῖς προφηταῖς peta TO χρίσθηναι

—an addition which Jerome (contra Pelag. 111.) expressly cites from the Gospel of the Nazarenes.
xxvi. 74, To ιουδαικον᾽ Kat ἠρνήσατο Kal ὠμοσεν Kat KaTnpacato.
It is plain that this whole matter requires careful discussion, but at present it would seem that the first half of Cod. A was written in cursive, the second in uncial letters; if not by the same person, yet on the same plan and at the same place.
1 The subscription to St Matthew stands in both: evayyewv κατα ματθαιον.

Edwards includes other less familiar sources of information, including scholia in Codex Sinaiticus which make emendations on the basis of “the Jewish (Gospel)” (pp.40-42), even if in the end he discounts these scholia because of their late date.

Review
J. William Johnston

Edwards, of the faculty of Whitworth University, Spokane, Washington, claims Matthew wrote his Gospel in Hebrew before it was published in Greek. Luke made use of this Hebrew Gospel, along with the Gospel of Mark (pp. xxi–xxii). Though Matthew’s Hebrew Gospel is lost to history, Edwards argues that its existence can be determined by noting the combination of patristic evidence and the apparent Semitic imprint it left on Luke’s Gospel, particularly in its unique material.
